Musings from the Mundane

Why not write and pass on this simple mundane life?

Mount Saint Helens

Portland certainly is a changed face for Oregon.

While out and aboot last night, the big talk from everyone seemed to be the minor eruption of Mt. St. Helens yesterday. The vapor cloud was neat to see, but nowhere near the chaos of the big eruption.

Nobody I talked to was here to remember the eruption in 1980. I remember when I was 4, getting up someday after the mountain blew and thinking it had snowed with all the ash that was on the ground.

I'll bet everyone that was here, has some ash that they collected from that event.....

I remember it well

I was six. My mom and I were watching Days of Our Lives while she ironed the laundry. The show was interupted with an urgent news bulletin. I thought this was super cool. I didn't see much ash except for the stuff at the curb near the front of the house because I wasn't allowed to cross Boone Road.
