Ain't That a Shame and Similar Stuff
During the week life is full, but of nothing worth writing about. Should I write about the fact that I went to work today, looked at houses tonight, ate a quick dinner and am now here in front of my computer? (Well, actually I just did....suckers!)
Hmmmm, well for those of you that know me; I've got a tendency to be a list based person. Lists don't drive my life...thats what chaos is for, but I've got my lists. One of them is a futile attempt to gain an understanding of how popular music ended up where it is now by listening to a chronological list of #1 hits (according to some Billboard book I checked out of the library). I've started at 1955 since this is what the book had good records for. Here are the last five I've listened to on that list to date:
AIN'T THAT A SHAME as performed by Pat Boone
LOVE IS A MANY-SPLENDORED THING as performed by The Four Aces
AUTUMN LEAVES as performed by Roger Williams
SIXTEEN TONS as performed by Tennessee Ernie Ford
In order to listen to these, I've been building up my CD collection. I find myself cringing and laughing at the Pat Boone versions of what otherwise are perfectly good tunes, and I've been listening to the Tennessee Ernie Ford album alot. What does this say, absolutely nothing....

Dern, I really dig the dynamic use of font size and color on your posts. Hard to scan. Makes you read. Eye appeal. Good idea.
Franz (FYI) here's the rest of the list to date:
LET ME GO LOVER, Joan Weber
HEARTS OF STONE, The Fontane Sisters
SINCERELY, The McGuire Sisters
THE BALLAD OF DAVY CROCKETT, Bill Hayes
CHERRY PINK AND APPLE BLOSSOM WHITE, Perez Prado
DANCE WITH ME HENRY, Georgia Gibbs
UNCHAINED MELODY, Les Baxter
ROCK AROUND THE CLOCK, Bill Haley & His Comets
LEARNIN' THE BLUES, Frank Sinatra
THE YELLOW ROSE OF TEXAS, Mitch Miller
Really eclectic mix. Rock'around'the clock has always been considered a sort of starts of rock. Perex Prado is Mambo, Les Baxter is percussion only, Sinatra well we all know Sinatra, Mitch Miller wrote that silly ditty to "The Longest Day" Mostly so far vocals are popular whether in group or solo.
Sister C; I've got a visual job, would let myself down if my blog was completely bluck visually....and if I posting something mundane there has to be something to make you stop and read right?
