Musings from the Mundane

Why not write and pass on this simple mundane life?

A Decade Ago:
(because I am psychotic in keeping records; every time I sit down and pull together information for taxes I get a chance to reflect and throw away proof of life ten years ago)

I was in college. Tuition was estimated at $18,670 for the year.

The University had yet to proclaim itself the "Premier Catholic Teaching University in the West" (or whatever that selling statement was)

I drove a forklift that summer for a local paper finishing plant. I earned around $500 every other week for the summer.

I could live off $50 a month spending cash. The largest checks I wrote were for books and some tuition.

I had a credit card.....and didn't use it that year.

I was a member of the Star Wars Fan Club and regularly received shipments from BMG Music Service.

Accounts that I saved money in earned either 2.2% APR up to 3% APR or 5%APR.

Ten years ago, Sallie Mae was founded more than 20 years ago.

My final student billing statement for the year indicates a unique charge indirectly associated with my summertime employment.....

The Univ billed you for that action huh?

I still tell people that story, especially the fact that BH tried to play that it wasn't him even though he had the most recognizable hair on campus.

I like the new post format you've been using.

All 3 of us had something to pay.

Sometimes its easier to conjure up photos from the web than write words.

Crap, the digital guys have found my blog. I suppose they haven't figured it out from the repeated unreturned messages on my answering machine.
