On a Cold Winter's Morn
The other day I walked to work;
Dear Coffee People,
Honolulu is in desperate need of entrepeneurs who are willing to run an independent coffee shop and open said shop before the hour of 8AM.
Please provide this information to anyone who made be able to provide emergency disaster relief and to resolve this dire situation.
Mahalo,
Morning Grump.
Somewhere along my 45 minute jaunt I was hoping that something else besides Starbucks would be open....

I've got nothing against people going to Starbucks, its the corporate entity itself. Portlanders (or at least me) have something against the corporations, Portland is an individual town. Cases in point: SE Portland fought (and won) against the building of a McDonald's in a popular part of town; NE Portland fought against (and lost) the building of a Fred Meyer's (like a Wal-Mart) which at the time was still locally owned (now owned by Kroger's I think). Even though Nike is from there; many people abhorr Nike. Drives me nuts that other places only have national chains.....support the little guys and help give people a choice....stepping down from the groggy (or bloggy?) podium and working now.
(I feel like I'm dwelling on this) but this linked article can explain coffee and Portland better than I can even begin to attempt.
