Musings from the Mundane

Why not write and pass on this simple mundane life?

Jack Handy's

Random thoughts from throughout the day.
(this is the second time I've had to write this. Current mood pissed; all hopes at spontaneity lost)

Silly thought from a groggy mind on a National Event:
(listening to NPR on my way into work this morning)

The Vice President's anthem (Hail Columbia) reminded me of the itsy-bitsy spider.

Sad thought (or rather quote) on an ongoing National Event:
(courtesy of this months National Geographic)

"In the tribal areas, the typical Pashtun home is built like a fortress, with high watchtowers and 20-foot wall. And no self-respecting Pashtun is without his personal armory. A powerful household might have an antiaircraft gun mounted in the watchtower, a mortar or two, a .50-caliber machine gun, a dozen or so AK-47s, and a stack of rocket-propelled grenades."

Chilly thought for the day:
(on reviewing the weather for next weeks vacation)

Portland weather is forecast for the low 50's-40's with wind and rain. As silly as this is, even though I've spent two months working on my beard; I think I'm gonna end up freezing.

Don't know if I'll post tommorrow, but if I don't at least y'all won't have to hear from me for at least a week......

Profound thought of the day:

"So I guess this is where I tell you what I learned - my conclusion, right? Well, my conclusion is: Hate is baggage. Life's too short to be pissed off all the time. It's just not worth it. Derek says it's always good to end a paper with a quote. He says someone else has already said it best. So if you can't top it, steal from them and go out strong. So I picked a guy I thought you'd like. 'We are not enemies, but friends. We must not be enemies. Though passion may have strained, it must not break our bonds of affection. The mystic chords of memory will swell when again touched, as surely they will be, by the better angels of our nature."

Two things: Maryland Terps TOPPLE the Duke Devils! GO TERPS! AND, this: (Name the movie for brownie points)
"I did have a test today. That wasn't bull$#it. It's on European Socialism. I mean, really, what's the point? I'm not European, I don't plan on being European, so who gives a crap if they're socialist? They could be fascist anarchists and that still wouldn't change the fact that I don't own a car. Not that I condone fascism, or any -ism for that matter. -Ism's in my opinion are not good. A person should not believe in an -ism, he should believe in himself. I quote John Lennon, "I don't believe in The Beatles, I just believe in me." Good point there. After all, he was the walrus. I could be the walrus and I'd still have to bum rides off of people."

Ferris Beuller's Day Off
"Donke shen Darling Donke shen"
(for lack of brain power after flying today with time zone change; that's all I can come up with at the moment)
