The Travelogue Continues
Today I ventured down to the Bishop Museum.
The museum houses the most complete collection of Hawaiiana in the world. Its a big museum; history galleries, the Hawaii sports hall of Fame, a Plane'arium, and more.
As usual, I managed to spend most of the day there, but didn't complete the entire museum. Sidenote: If I ever go to a museum in Europe I likely could spend months trying to go through it.
Small thing I learned today. As many people know, Hawaii is a diverse place. According to my travel book; its the most diverse state in the nation with no single ethnicity holding a majority. I didn't realize that mostly due to the sugarcane plantations Hawaii had the following major ethnicities; Hawaiian (stop laughing), Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Filipino, Spanish, Portuguese, and German.
Of course Russia, Britain and the Americans had a strong presence when Hawaii was a sovereign nation.....

Hawaiians in Hawaii??? NO WAY!!!! I know you said no laughing, but c'mon...that deserved a dig for sure! ;-) You should take a trip out to Molokai, the Friendly Isle. That's where the local go for their vacation and it's so beautiful and untouched!
