Musings from the Mundane

Why not write and pass on this simple mundane life?

2005 at Home

The storm held till Saturday, then it rained.

I walked 4 miles down to the Aloha Tower and the Maritime Center.

Had food at Don Ho's. Didn't order wine.....or tiny bubbles in it. Had a Loco Moco. For those who might be fascinated by the random food here; Loco Moco is 2 eggs done anyway you want, on top of a hamburger patty (in this case, a 1/2lb of hamburger), on top of a heap of rice....all covered in gravy. I think I still feel it in my stomach right now, but its good food after too much "fun."

Maritime Center highlights: Museum with a 50 minute audio tape tour and home of the world's only four master fully rigged ship that is also the world's only masted oil tanker.

I learned 2 small things on my outing: There is a sailing race from Los Angeles to Honolulu every 2 years (originally to be from SF because a challenge of King Kalakaua to the SF yacht club, then reenlived by a man name MacFarland in 1906, but when he arrived in SF no one wanted to race....the great earthquake was in '06...there were people in LA that wanted to race and well its happened ever since). Its called the Trans-Pac. Also, the Hawaii/Oregon ties have been around a long time. The museum had a sign that read "in Oregon that's why they have the Owyhee River and a City named Aloha." Aloha, Oregon has always been obvious. I always thought the Owyhee River originated from an Indian (Native Mainland American) word.

Hope New Years is good out there.

Loco Moco sounds like a really bad song remake or a really bad drink from 7 Eleven. :)
