A Life in the Week
Little Tired right now, but the post must go on.....
Vacation was great. I'm still amused of thinking of vacation as being on the mainland, and it was a bucket o' fun. Here goes the book report:
Got in Saturday night and finally made it to the Kennedy School to join the gang. They all had been there about the same amount of time as I was in the air, so things were fairly rowdy by the time we all left. Everyone else inside the bar but outside of the group was completely confused because I brought back lei's for the group and that's just not something you see everyday in Oregon.
We all went to college in Portland at the University of Portland; so we spent some time on campus and naturally made a trip to get a monstrosity of a "meal" called a T-burger at (ta da) the T-Room.
Up through Monday night everyone stayed at my house. This was a little stressful for me as in my mind a good host presents a comfortable place to stay, not a house that is hardly set up for the person that lives there, much less guests. I think everyone had a good time camping out, most everyone chipped in with air mattresses (actually come to think of it, I was the only person that ended up sleeping on the floor.....so on second thought guess my hosting duties went well). If anyone is bored and wants to whack some branches off of some huge rose plants, I only managed to finish one out of a trillion....
Monday night was fun; Chinese food with 18 people at The House of Louie in honor of the Chinese New Year (its the year of the Monkey). Note to self, if anyone recommends that every person at the table should order 1 dinner for everyone else to try; tell them that they're a fool (yup that's me over there living on that hill). Week's running joke: "Who wants Chinese food?"
Rest of the trip we stayed in a kick *ss house up in Welches on an Island in the Sandy (?) River. Hot Tub right next to the river, fireplace, Playstation, a bar, what could go wrong?
Wednesday answered that question to this ski vacation; we drove up to Timberline Lodge; all the lower mountain ski resorts were closed and Timberline only had a couple runs open. I've never seen conditions like this before at this time of year. I'm a little worried this summer will end up with drought conditions. I did manage to prove that the snow was knee deep though (oh and cold....to me). That night was a bar hopping night; lots of fun at places like The Shack, The Tap Room, The Whistle Stop (we never did make it to the Inn Between).
Thursday golfing (no snow). Oh did I forget to mention Playstation and the Hot Tub. Big Pasta sit down meal for dinner.
Friday we made a trip to Mt. Bachelor. That was open (and free lift tickets with cans of food). I even got on a pair of skis, took and lesson, and got forced up to the top of the green ski lift. I liked the skiing part, the downhill part not so much (forgot to mention I'm scared of heights). That night we grilled and pretty much took it easy (its a 2.5-3 hour drive one way to Bachelor from where we were staying).
Saturday I left the gang (sorry all) for Portland. Got my packing done, brief appearance at the bosses 50th B-day, didn't see the new Oregon office location, Symphony (Shastakovich No. 5.....it was awesome, I miss being able to go), chatted with a friend for awhile, bummed though that I didn't get to see a couple friend's (Dominick and Ethel) new place; I didn't realize how hard it really is to fit everyone in, and I'm always hard on myself when I say I'm gonna do something, but don't.
Anyhow, got 4 hours sleep last night and that's been my life this past week.
(I apologize for the lack of explanatory links, maybe I'll update this post later in the week....in the meantime if their is anyone out there energetic enough for it; there's Google and Mapquest.....)

Wow! That's quite a vacation. Were you more tired than when you left? I would have been. What a great time.
Eighteen people all ordered their own meal. Geesh! That must have been hilarious. Send me some leftovers.
Just a tiny bit of snow. I think there's tons of snow in the Sierras. There were some really big storms this year in CA. I thought Mt. Hood, OR got hit later in the season this year, too, but I guess not. Sad.
I'm super impressed you went skiing. Was it peer pressure?
I thought it was the year of the cock??? Actually, I KNOW it's the year of the cock. Last year was the year of the monkey. Of course, their new year hasn't started yet but it's coming up...
Sounds fun.
Thanks all, great trip and was tired upon my return (getting back into a "normal" sleeping schedule).
The year of the Wooden Rooster officially starts Wednesday, big celebrations here in Chinatown, how 'bout in anyone else's neck of the woods?
