Musings from the Mundane

Why not write and pass on this simple mundane life?

Doing Stuff

I must be back.

It's been a busy weekend.

For your reading (dis)Pleasure here's a catalog:

Friday night, friends talked me into going Salsa dancing with them. I went hoping to find someone to take to the Symphony, but alas that mission failed. Might end up going back; who knows?

Afterwards, went to the Doug Fir hoping to see a show and get some dinner/drinks. I'm pretty sure the Doug Fir is new since I've left. I really dig the place. (This sounds odd for why you might like a place, but) it reminds me of a Denny's; where you can order drinks; is built in an old hotel type building but refinished like its a log house; and there's a lounge with a band downstairs.

Saturday; (typical me, unable to leave the house before noon, but) took my film from some of my Hawai'i trials and my trip to Sydney to the developers. Getting CD scans (yes I know, giving up some of my old analog is the best fight) so may post some originals that I've actually taken here. The requisite weekend supplies trip to Home Desperate for the weekend project. Trip to GI Joes for the same....and there's now a Lowe's right next to it in Delta Park (which I'm positive wasn't there just before I left.....those things get built FAST). Pulled some weeds which have gotten out of control.

Saturday Night; Symphony. Schubert's Symphony No. 9. I learnt the piece was never played during Schubert's life, and when the London Symphony first set out to play the piece, the strings section stopped playing and just laughed when they got to the final movement....it looked and sounded like a gruelly piece to play.

This morning; Off to see a project that I think turned out well and which I participated in designing. Proud of the project (just like all the ones I work on......selfish and prideful that way I guess).

This afternoon; Worked on the house (ironic, buy a house built in 1922 so you can work on it, but the first part you work on was installed in 1994). Spent the afternoon in the crawlspace under the house fixing ductwork and removing the insulation (yes I know, not smart from a cost/efficiency standpoint, but the ductwork is under the insulation and whoever did it used cardboard tape for the seams and attached the insulation by wrapping duct tape logitudinally around the ductwork). Anyhow, decided that Wye fittings are the enemy, they do not want to cooperate in existing systems, but got that part of the system fixed. Next weekend, back in the half crawlspace/basement under the original part of the house to fix some more ductwork.

Good to be out doing regular stuff again.......
